Video Game Design Tutorial #27: Harmonic Series, Additive, Subtractive, and FM Synthesis

If you are interested in further understanding how the harmonic series of sound works using real life examples, I have provided a link to an interactive demonstration of recorded real life (non-synthesized) sounds. Notice how the sounds that are musically pleasant in the traditional sense closely follow the harmonic series, whereas the sounds that are not (like thunder clapping) have a more unpredictable distribution of frequencies.
